Notes:
This was the opening act for Grace Potter & The Nocturnals at Wolf Trap.  I'd never heard them before, but as soon as they took the stage, I was digging it!  Nice mixture of rock, blues, and funk.  Being unfamiliar, I'm not sure all the track names are right, but I took a shot at it.  If I do have a track mislabeled, please let me know so I can correct it.  Enjoy!

Notes:
Another fantastic evening with Robert Plant. And a pretty decent recording if I do say so.  Robert was in great voice, and offered up a healthy dose of Led Zeppelin tunes, as well as some of my favorite solo material.  It was really great hearing In The Mood and Big Log after many years.  I have also included the opening act along with this recording as I'd never heard of Bombino before, but they really laid down some nice jams.  Sorry about the drunk and possibly tripping woman in the recording.  Not sure how I end up next to these people all the time.  Anyway, enjoy the show - I sure
did!

Notes:
This was my 2nd time seeing the Doobies, and I enjoyed this show a lot more than the first time a year ago when they opened for Lynyrd Skynyrd at the Abereen Proving Grounds in MD. While this didn't turn out to be what I'd consider to be one of my best recordings, it's still a decent representation of the show.  There's a good mix of the more popular tunes, some off the new "World Gone Crazy" album (which I'd highly recommend getting if you don't have it), and a few deep cuts that you don't hear as much of.  Enjoy!

Notes:
This was the opening act for Queensryche at the State Theater.  I'd never heard of these guys, but was really blown away by the talent.  This is an acoustic set, with Sass Jordan providing the vocals and Brian Tichy on acoustic guitar and percussion.  I'd never seen or heard anyone both play guitar as well as provide the beat on percussion at the same time before, loads of talent here!  They describe this as "capo rock".  It's got a nice bluesy / folk rock feel to it.  The only downside to this recording is it's length, on the positive side, it's a quick download.  I would have loved to have seen / heard more though.  Be sure to check out the web links folder and Tom's website (linked above) for some really great photos of these guys and a link to the band's website.  Enjoy!

NOTES:
Fantastic collection of songs in this show!  This is one of my first recordings and I wasn't using the greatest mic available, but with a little tweaking to the EQ, I think the resulting recording here came out quite nicely.  Some highlights include Abe doing all the vocals on Xavier's song "Alone", Arlo goofing up and starting to play "Here We Are / Way Out In The Country" but singing Stealin', and there's a good bit of Sarah Lee Guthrie from early on in her career.  Overall, a great performance by all!

Total Time:      2:27:30

NOTES:
This was an informal show put on by Abe & Randy on the afternoon before the annual Guthrie Center Fall Fundraiser show later in the evening.  The "happy birthday" during the second set was for Dennis LaChapelle (Arlo Guthrie's long time bus driver, and fan favorite).  This recording is dedicated to the memory of Dennis, who passed away December 20, 2008.

LaCHAPELLE, Dennis Dennis LaChapelle, 58, husband of Deb (Fitzgerald) LaChapelle, passed on unexpectedly on Saturday (December 20, 2008). He was born in Manchester, to Clarence and Ruth, the 12th of their 13 children. He later settled in Becket, MA where he planted the roots for the life that he embraced. Dennis touched so many lives, near and far, while enjoying decades of travels throughout the world while driving folk singer and dear friend Arlo Guthrie's tour bus. He enjoyed sharing stories of his journeys and takes many great memories with him. He was currently employed by the Massachusetts Highway Department where he took pride in keeping the roads safe for everyone. He loved to drive, fix things, anything mechanical, and most importantly to lend a hand to help everyone and anyone he could. He also loved pepper and spicy food, and surely had a zest for life. Dennis will always be remembered as a big huggable guy with a heart of gold, enthusiastic spirit, and an ear to ear smile. The road of destiny now drives Dennis to where his help must be needed next. Besides his wife Deb and her children Sam, Zach, and Sara and grandchildren Tyler and Serena; Dennis is survived by six LaChapelle brothers, Clarence, Ted, Jerry, Fred, Joe, and Greg; four sisters, Mary Mazzochi, Eileen Fuller, Judy Fuller, and Margaret Yonika; three foster brothers, John and Bob Hershey, and Armand LeBrie; many nieces and nephews; a huge Blunderite family; and countless "bus driver groupies". He is predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Ruth (Bennett) LaChapelle; two brothers, Jack and David; and a step-grandchild Brodie. A "Celebration of Dennis' Life" will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 29, at The Guthrie Center, 4 Van Deusenville Rd., Great Barrington, MA.

NOTES:
It's a rare opportunity to get the chance to hear Arlo play solo - so it's always a treat, and this night was no different.  Another fantastic night filled with song, and story, and laughter.  For me personally the highlight is hearing everyone sing along on "My Peace" as it sounded so sweet.  Again, not a perfect recording, and I'll admit - the camera beeps were my own.  For some reason my camera was misbehaving and beeping even though I had the beep supposedly turned off.  So those beeps in the recording are mine - but I tried to limit the number I took as a result.  I don't think it detracts from the overall recording all that much.  Also, the Birchmere is a place where you can eat and drink while enjoying the show - and you'll hear some of that as well.
